“Dance being the purest & the most aesthetic form of non verbal communication was seminal in creating a dancer in me, but only many years later. As an infant, like most others, it was the aspect of sheer jubilation of the entire body and mind that grew my interest towards it. Though one of the oldest forms of art, it has undergone constant reinvention in its language, forms, meanings and applications.”
To be part of a contingent that facilitates this process of renewal in dance is my mission and vision. This coming of age in Dance and its widespread social acceptance , establishing value in education and health has reinstated the status of current dance practitioners not just across the globe but even in India.
In a multicultural society such as that in India, dance has its varied and vivid forms. The traditional Classical laid the foundation stone paving the way for later innovators to nurture and redefine the language of creativity. This as we know, brought about the revolution called modern dance in India.. To motivate young talents and encourage parents to be part of this revolution as well, is another uphill task that practioners like us should indulge into. I wish to advocate community dancing among children and adults likewise, and that will pave the way for dance aspirants to educate, share, communicate , create as well refine their own creative skills. Dance as a viable career option is no longer a debatable and a urban centric expression in India. So cheers to the dance art community at large and the future of Indian dance.
